Christ to India - Statement of Faith

  1. The Bible - The Scriptures of the Old and New Testament are verbally inspired by God, inerrant and infallible in the original writings, and they are of supreme and final authority (2 Timothy 3:16; Matthew 5:18).

  2. The Trinity-There is one God eternally existing in one essence, yet co-equal persons, the Father, Son and Holy Spirit (Deut 6:4; Matt 28:19).

  3. Jesus - Jesus Christ is eternal, uncreated; He came to earth begotten by God the Father, conceived by the Holy Spirit and born to the virgin Mary. On earth He was fully God and fully man and sinless (John 1:1; Luke 1:35; Heb 13:8).

  4. The Holy Spirit - The Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity, who convicts the world of sin, righteousness and judgment. He is the life of the believer and He empowers the preaching and teaching of the Gospel (John 16:8; Rom 8:11).

  5. Creation and Fall - God created the world in 6 days out of nothing. Adam, the first real man, and Eve his wife were created in the image of God, sinned, and thereby incurred not only physical death, but spiritual death, which is separation from God, and as a result human beings are born with a sinful nature and are in need of salvation (Gen 1-3; Heb 11:3; Rom 5:12).

  6. Atonement - The Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures as a representative and substitutionary sacrifice; the Father poured out His wrath on Jesus during the crucifixion. All who repent of their sins and believe in the gospel are justified on the basis of His shed blood (1 Cor 15:1-3; Isaiah 53; Mark 1:15).

  7. Resurrection - Jesus rose from the dead in a physical resurrection body on the third day, then ascended into heaven and He presently reigns there as High Priest and Advocate for us (Romans 10:9-10; Heb 4:14-16).

  8. Christ’s return - Jesus is coming again for His Church, which is the blessed hope; His return will be personal, visible and imminent. He will also return at the end of the age as Judge to conquer His enemies. At that time He will reign on the earth for 1,000 year as King of Kings (1 Thess 4:13-17; Rev 19-20).

  9. The Devil - Satan is real, a fallen angel, who cannot be redeemed and is the enemy of God and His people; he is still working in the world to destroy the souls of men; he and all his angels and all who do not submitt to Christ as their personal Savior will perish in eternal hell, the lake of fire (1 Pet 5:8; Rev 12:9; 20:7-10).

  10. The Church - The Church began at Pentecost and her mission it is to preach the gospel to all the world. God has ordained elder-shepherds and deacons, who are qualified males, to lead the Church. The Church is to be supported by the wise stewardship of God's people (Acts 2; Ephesians 2:20-22; 1 Tim 3:1-14).

  11. Ordinances - Christ gave two ordinances of the Church, to practice and celebrate until He returns; they are Baptism and the Lord's Table (Communion). They impart no forgiveness of sin, but are strictly memorials of Christ’s work on the cross (1 Cor 11:23-32; Matt 28:18-20; Eph 2:8-9).
