Matthew 28:18-20
Evangelizing
The Great Commission in Matthew 28:18-20 tells believers to spread the message of Christ. We hold gospel meetings in rural villages throughout the southeastern areas of India. Thousands of people have heard the gospel message of salvation. 50% of India's population have never heard the good news of Jesus. Many have believed in Christ as their personal Savior. These people then attend the churches in the rural community and face persecution from family, friends, employers, and the community.
James 1:27
Widow Care
Hindu practice of sati, the burning to death of a widow on her husbands' funeral procession has been outlawed for decades but it still occurs in rural areas of India. Today, after their husband's death widows in rural India are left to fend for themselves and many go without shelter, sufficient food, and proper clothing. James 1:27 directs God's believers to care for widows. We meet the the physical need of widows and teach His love and lead them to the Lord. The widows' homes hosts 35-40 Christian women.
Matthew 19:14
Orphan Care
There are millions of orphans in India. They live on streets begging for food and clothes. Some become bonded child laborers which is a employer-slave relationship. But most are homeless, afraid, malnurished, and unloved. As Jesus said in Matthew 19:14 we want to "let the children come" to us so that we can love them, care for them and bring the Gospel of Christ to them. We have two orphanages with 30+ children in each and we praise God that the children are able to learn about Christ and His gospel.
Ephesians 4:11
Pastoral Care
There are just over 100 pastors with churches in rural villages throughout the southeastern region that Johnpaul provides care, training and counseling. Johnpaul has established some formal training with U.S. pastors/seminary professors through online resouces. Pastors in India face tremendous persecution from the government and community. Most must work outside their church to make ends meet, however, most employers refuse to hire pastors. About the only employment available is in the rice fields that pay $3 for a 12 hour day. Their wives and children face persecution in the marketplace and school.
James 5:14
Sick/Diseased
The calamity and pain of any illness or disease is itself difficult to handle. Imagine being outcast from society, hated, and refused service becasue of the disease you have contracted. This is what lepers face in India today and it brings a whole new dimension to James 5:14 that says if anyone is ill for them to call on the elders (pastors) to pray. HIV/AIDS is rapidly growing in southern India primarily due to the lack of basic education and information. Once contracted treatment in rural India is almost unheard of, leaving people to die a painful and premature death.
John 4:10
Water Wells
Many of the villages we serve do not have clean drinking water and of course unclean water is the source of many illnesses and disease. In rual southern India well water is the best source of clean water. We have found that by providing a well for the village persecution tension drops significanlty. But more importanty "living water" also flows. Just like the woman who found Christ at a well in John 4, these wells are paving the way for the gospel message to be heard. Villagers who normally reject and persecute all Christians see the love of sharing water which have directly led to many conversions.
Church Locations
Most of the 120+ churches are located in the Tenali and Guntur region.
Statement of Faith
-
The Bible - The Scriptures of the Old and New Testament are verbally inspired by God, inerrant and infallible in the original writings, and they are of supreme and final authority (2 Timothy 3:16; Matthew 5:18).
-
The Trinity-There is one God eternally existing in one essence, yet co-equal persons, the Father, Son and Holy Spirit (Deut 6:4; Matt 28:19).
-
Jesus - Jesus Christ is eternal, uncreated; He came to earth begotten by God the Father, conceived by the Holy Spirit and born to the virgin Mary. On earth He was fully God and fully man and sinless (John 1:1; Luke 1:35; Heb 13:8).
-
The Holy Spirit - The Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity, who convicts the world of sin, righteousness and judgment. He is the life of the believer and He empowers the preaching and teaching of the Gospel (John 16:8; Rom 8:11).
-
Creation and Fall - God created the world in 6 days out of nothing. Adam, the first real man, and Eve his wife were created in the image of God, sinned, and thereby incurred not only physical death, but spiritual death, which is separation from God, and as a result human beings are born with a sinful nature and are in need of salvation (Gen 1-3; Heb 11:3; Rom 5:12).
-
Atonement - The Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures as a representative and substitutionary sacrifice; the Father poured out His wrath on Jesus during the crucifixion. All who repent of their sins and believe in the gospel are justified on the basis of His shed blood (1 Cor 15:1-3; Isaiah 53; Mark 1:15).
-
Resurrection - Jesus rose from the dead in a physical resurrection body on the third day, then ascended into heaven and He presently reigns there as High Priest and Advocate for us (Romans 10:9-10; Heb 4:14-16).
-
Christ’s return - Jesus is coming again for His Church, which is the blessed hope; His return will be personal, visible and imminent. He will also return at the end of the age as Judge to conquer His enemies. At that time He will reign on the earth for 1,000 year as King of Kings (1 Thess 4:13-17; Rev 19-20).
-
The Devil - Satan is real, a fallen angel, who cannot be redeemed and is the enemy of God and His people; he is still working in the world to destroy the souls of men; he and all his angels and all who do not submitt to Christ as their personal Savior will perish in eternal hell, the lake of fire (1 Pet 5:8; Rev 12:9; 20:7-10).
-
The Church - The Church began at Pentecost and her mission it is to preach the gospel to all the world. God has ordained elder-shepherds and deacons, who are qualified males, to lead the Church. The Church is to be supported by the wise stewardship of God's people (Acts 2; Ephesians 2:20-22; 1 Tim 3:1-14).
-
Ordinances - Christ gave two ordinances of the Church, to practice and celebrate until He returns; they are Baptism and the Lord's Table (Communion). They impart no forgiveness of sin, but are strictly memorials of Christ’s work on the cross (1 Cor 11:23-32; Matt 28:18-20; Eph 2:8-9).
